Overview

This project was done at UC Berkeley during a two week summer program called Transfer Preparation Engineering Program. This program was geared to prepare students for the rigorous lifestyle of Berkeley.

Utilizing the Sprint Process, I build a functioning underground irrigation solution that tackled California's water scarcity.

After 2 weeks of designing and manufacturing, the project was then presented to 100+ people from the program, alumni, professors and industries. We presented to industries such as Boeing, Chevron, Apple and Disney.

We competed with 10 other teams who developed projects with meaningful impacts. We won Best Overall Project, Best Motivation, Best Hardware, Best Presentation and Best Impact out of six teams.

About

This underground irrigation system is composed of play pods, connected by rubber tubing. Each pod is equipped with moisture sensors to detect moisture levels which will open a valve to a water tank when the sensors detect low moisture. With this, the system can directly supply water to the plants at the root, successfully reducing water waste.
